Closet Tools alternative now that it is cloud-only

Closet Tools was the best-known Poshmark sharing extension for years. In July 2025 it became Resellbot, a cloud service at $30 a month. If you preferred the extension model, or the price, here's what changed and what your options are.

What happened to Closet Tools

Closet Tools launched in 2018 and grew into the category leader. On 30 July 2025 it rebranded as Resellbot and moved its automation from a Chrome extension to the cloud. Existing subscribers were migrated at no extra charge.

Its announcement gave two reasons for leaving the extension model:

"Chrome updates would sometimes break functionality."

"You had to keep your computer on and browser open."

Both are real limitations of extensions, and they're worth taking seriously when you choose a replacement.

Resellbot today (as of September 2026)

• Automations plan: $30 a month for five automation slots. Separate Archive ($7) and Research ($39 to $149) plans.
• 7-day trial, card required.
• Features: closet, party and community sharing, follows, scheduled offers, relisting, bulk price changes, multi-closet support and cross-listing from Poshmark to eBay.
• Captchas: automatic solving with 2Captcha plus pause alerts, and share limiting to prevent share jail.
• The legacy Chrome extension is still listed on the Chrome Web Store (about 2,000 users, 4.2 rating from 46 reviews).

Cloud or extension: the real trade-off

What the cloud gets you

A cloud service runs whether or not your computer is on. You don't have to leave a browser tab open, and a Chrome update on your laptop can't interrupt it. That's a genuine advantage, and it's why Resellbot made the move.

What an extension gets you

An extension acts inside your browser, on your device and connection, in the Poshmark session you're already logged into. It doesn't need your password or a copy of your login, and there's no third-party server acting as your account. It also costs less to run, which shows up in the price.

The extension's weaknesses can be engineered around

Resellbot's two reasons deserve an honest answer:

• "Chrome updates would sometimes break functionality." Most breakage comes from Poshmark changing its page layout, which the extension relies on. The fix is to keep page details in configuration that can be updated the same day, instead of waiting days for a Chrome Web Store review, and to test against the live site every night so breakage gets caught before users hit it.
• "You had to keep your computer on and browser open." This one is simply true for any extension, ClosetPace included. What an extension can do is make the time it does run count: resume automatically after sleep, restarts and dropped connections, and run schedules as soon as you're back.

Choosing a Closet Tools alternative

Ask yourself three questions:

1. Do you need it to run with your computer off? If yes, stay with a cloud service like Resellbot.

Moving from Closet Tools: a checklist

Whichever tool you pick next, a little preparation makes the switch painless:

1. Write down your old settings. Note your share times, daily volume, party habits and any offer rules you relied on, so you can recreate the routine rather than starting from scratch.
2. Turn the old tool off completely before starting a new one. Two tools sharing at once double your volume without you noticing, which is the fastest route to share jail. If you still have the legacy extension installed, disable it.
3. Cancel what you no longer use. Check your card statement for the old subscription after migration so you're not paying twice.
4. Start below your old volume. Run at a modest daily cap for the first few days, confirm that shares show the "Shared Successfully" banner, then raise it gradually.
5. Check your order after the first full run. Open your closet and confirm your best pieces are still where you want them. If not, read how to share your closet in order.
6. Add a keep-active routine. Closet Tools-era habits were built around sharing. Since April 2026, sharing alone no longer keeps listings active, so add a weekly pass of offers and small edits (see the 60-day rule).

If you used Closet Tools mainly for daily sharing, party sharing and offers to likers, an extension covers everything you need. If you relied on its cross-listing or multi-closet features, stay in the cloud.
